Why This Site Exists
Alabama law treats many adult jail records as public writings, and the sheriff's jail-book duties support access to core custody facts. The harder part for most readers is sorting the systems. Montgomery County's adult jail roster is run through the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Mac Sim Butler Montgomery County Detention Facility. ADOC maintains a separate locator for people transferred to state prison. Federal inmates at Federal Prison Camp Montgomery are searched through BOP, and immigration custody questions belong with ICE.
This site is meant to reduce that confusion. It organizes official roster links, inmate-record field notes, court-record paths, mugshot request guidance, facility pages, and phone contacts so a reader can start with the right office instead of guessing.
What You Can Find
The Montgomery County custody system has several public access channels, and they do not all answer the same question.
- Help using jail inmate records, jail roster mugshots, and court records after a jail arrest.
- Separate facility pages for the Mac Sim Butler Detention Facility, Montgomery Municipal Jail, juvenile facilities, ADOC prisons and work centers, and FPC Montgomery.
- Practical notes on the county roster, the sheriff app, VINELink, ADOC inmate search, BOP inmate locator, and ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
- Records-request context for booking records, incident reports, local background checks, public-record copy fees, and juvenile confidentiality limits.
What We Cannot Do
Montgomery County Inmate Population is privately run. It is not part of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the Mac Sim Butler Detention Facility, ADOC, BOP, ICE, the City of Montgomery, any court, or any other government agency.
- We cannot release, move, hold, or transfer anyone in custody.
- We cannot post bond, schedule video visitation, send money, or accept inmate mail.
- We cannot give legal advice or tell anyone how to handle a criminal case.
- We cannot promise that every phone number, fee, roster entry, or address remains current after publication.
Only the originating office can confirm live custody status, release, charges, bond, warrant service, or official record copies.
Search Partner Disclosure
Some pages may include search boxes or sponsored tools operated by third-party providers. Those companies control their own prices, sign-up steps, databases, and search results. If a visitor chooses a paid partner product after using one of those tools, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the public reference pages free, but it does not make the partner's results official or complete.
How Updates Are Handled
Jail rosters, app features, court portals, visitation vendors, and records-office practices can change without much notice. Montgomery County's research includes the sheriff's CountyGovServices portal, the MCSO public-record form, ADOC facility pages, BOP data, and court-record access through Alacourt, but each source remains under the agency's control.
Before traveling to the jail, mailing a request, or relying on a posted fee, check with the official office. Corrections can be sent through the Contacts page.
